About the Role
The primary purpose of this role is to provide the Australia and New Zealand legal team with proactive and strategic legal advice for all aspects of business operations in Pharmaceuticals (including ViiV), biologicals (Vaccines), Respiratory, Oncology and integrating legal knowledge with a sound business understanding.
Your role will be varied and will include:
- Anticipating and proactively supporting the prevention and management of legal and compliance risks facing all aspects of the business operations.
- Draft, develop, advise on and execute contracts and other legal documents of legal, strategic, financial/regulatory importance.
- Provide legal advice and assistance on bringing products to market and throughout all stages of the product lifecycle.
- Provide legal advice in relation to GSK’s participation in government tenders, wholesale supply and distribution arrangements, including structuring and negotiation of new routes to market.
- Provide oversight and advice in relation to the legal issues arising in relation to third party engagements, including healthcare organisation sponsorships, external expert engagements and patient engagement activities.
- As legal business partner, being a strong influence on risk management and advising on risk judgement calls to be taken in relation to business and operations; advising on appropriate strategy to manage / mitigate risks;
- Manage and resolve disputes, including litigations; government investigations; competitor complaints; regulator enquiries;
- Proactive engagement and coordinated alignment with other stakeholders and subject matter expert groups including Patents, Trademarks, Data Privacy, Business Development Transactions, Dispute Resolution and Prevention and Global Manufacturing and Supply.
About you?
As the successful candidate, you’ll have a minimum 5 years PAE with license to practice law in Victoria, Australia, and have a combination of private practice and/or in-house experience (healthcare/pharmaceutical in-house or competition law experience an advantage but not essential).
You’ll also have:
- Sound business acumen to deliver clear, pragmatic, and solution-focused legal advice on complex issues.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate and work effectively across different priorities with a strategic mindset and persuasive advocacy skills.
- The ability to work and partner effectively within a complex matrixed organisation across different cultures and time zones.
- Solutions-focused mindset and excellent analytical, problem solving and risk management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage proactively, influence and collaborate effectively with Legal colleagues and business stakeholders across all levels of the organization in a matrix environment, both within Australia and also with GSK overseas teams.
- Willingness to undertake domestic and international travel as required (where necessary, not anticipated to be regular)
