This role as Director, AI/ML Engineering will have an emphasis on clinical data and medical informatics. You will use your expertise in medical informatics and machine learning to build novel clinical data featurization techniques that can be used across our clinical project portfolio.  You will then play a key role in leveraging those featurization pipelines to build ML models that directly help patients as well as our drug discovery pipeline.

As a Director, AI/ML Engineering, we’d like you to be able to:

  • Build a best-in-class suite of tools for featurizing clinical data, taking into account differences in populations, in clinical coding practices, and more
  • Leverage the latest advancements in AI/ML to build, test, and validate predictive models
  • Advocate for the AI/ML org's clinical data needs with senior leadership of surrounding organizations and partners
  • Offer, challenge and solicit advice via peer review to enhance quality, share best practice and embed innovation
  • Connect and collaborate with subject matter experts in biology, chemistry, and medicine.
  • Lead, or makes major contributions to, industry-wide initiatives as part of an external working group/committee

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Experience conducting and directing independent research in clinical informatics and machine learning
  • Background in dynamical systems, condensed matter physics, machine learning, systems biology, statistics, modeling of sequence evolution and ecological population dynamics
  • Advanced Degree (PhD, Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics)
  • Expert understanding of a programming language such as Python, including experience with object oriented and/or functional programing paradigms.
  • Experience with at least one Deep Learning framework such as TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team to both teach and learn every day
